In our neighbourhood, materials and furnishings are carefully selected to provide smart, stylish, digital, and sustainable solutions. You control the ventilation, for example, via an app. You open the door with a digital key. Many of your appliancces are connected and residents also have access to Electrolux premium appliances service. All apartments have their own balcony, or access to the large garden with all its greenery.
In the neighbourhood there are several shared spaces, including cooking facilities. There is a fireplace with a gas stove that runs on biogas, produced from the neighbourhood’s leftover food. The district heating comes from the waste that we have not managed to recycle through the neighbourhood’s source sorting. The association is responsible for the electricity subscription: ‘Good Environmental Choice’ and contributes to creating a slightly more sustainable world. You are in control and pay for the energy you use.
In the bathroom you will find wooden composite washbasins instead of porcelain. This is one of our ways to avoid more waste being piled on landfill.
Reducing the amount of waste is a common challenge for us all. Our ambition is to reduce the amount of packaging material in the neighbourhood. But the waste we cannot avoid – and which is not made of fossil material – is incinerated and returned to the property in the form of heat through Stockholm's district heating network. A good example of circular solutions at the societal level.
Porcelain cannot be incinerated and must be placed in landfill (i.e. it sits there indefinitely) when it has served its purpose. Therefore, we have replaced the porcelain with a new type of product made of wood composite that can be combusted at the end of the product's lifecycle.
